Diamonds and their Uses

Diamonds, the hardest mineral known to man, have been used for many years as precious stones for jewellery. They are also increasingly used in industry to saw, polish and perforate rocks, concrete and rock-based materials, and in medicine, in small tools for dentisytry, surgery, etc., particulary since the advent of synthetic diamonds, whose characteristics are identical to those naturally occurring diamonds.
The display cas shows various industrial tools that make use of synthetic diamond, two brilliant-cut samples of zirconite and moissanite (imitation diamonds made from synthetic materials), and a sample of natural rough diamond embedded in kimberlite, which is its mother rock.

The inadequate commercialization of diamond contributes to the financing of wars, coverall in nations of Africa.
