Radioactivity: Measures and protection barriers

This interactive module allows to measure different levels of existing natural radiation with a Geiger detector. It allows measurement and comparison of the radiation present in the atmosphere that surrounds us, to that of diverse minerals and rocks containing different percentages of uranium, thorium and radium.
In addition, this equipment allows the visitor to interpose different types of materials (e.g. concrete, lead, lead glass, etc.) between the source of radiation and the detector in order to evaluate their effectiveness as a shield and the protection they gives against alpha (α), beta (ß) particles and gamma (γ) rays.
